Our Mission
Anyone who's had an engine quit in an unfamiliar port knows the feeling — you need help fast and you have no idea who to trust. We built Captain's Connection to solve exactly that problem.
Our mission is to be the most trusted directory of marine services in the country — a place where real reviews from real boaters guide the next captain in need to the right help. We also connect people with captains for charters, deliveries, fishing, and more, and give the broader boating community a forum to share knowledge and experiences.
We believe the boating community looks out for each other. Captain's Connection is just the radio channel everyone's already on.
How We Make Money
We believe in being completely upfront about this. Here's exactly how Captain's Connection funds itself — and what we will never do.
Always free for users
Searching for services, reading reviews, using the forum, and finding a captain will always be free for boaters. We will never put a paywall in front of information that helps someone get help on the water. If you want to support us voluntarily, we'll offer that option — but it will always be exactly that: optional.
Business subscriptions
Marine businesses and captains can pay a small subscription ($5/month or $55/year) to customizetheir listing — adding a verified badge, photos, a custom description, direct contact info, and priority visibility. Businesses that haven't claimed their listing are still shown on the platform using the information we pull from Google Maps, so boaters can always find them. Claiming just makes the listing yours to control.
Trusted sponsorships
We partner with marine brands and businesses we genuinely respect. Sponsors are always clearly labeled — you will never wonder whether something is an ad. We don't sell banner-blast advertising or let sponsors influence our editorial content, and we won't accept sponsors whose products or practices we wouldn't stand behind ourselves. Sponsorships help us keep the lights on without charging users.
What We Will Never Do
Sell your personal data
We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal or identifiable information to any third party — not advertisers, not data brokers, not anyone. Your data is yours.
Spam your inbox
We only send emails you explicitly ask for — login codes and essential account notices. No newsletters you didn't sign up for, no promotional blasts, no “we miss you” guilt trips.
Hide paid results as organic ones
Sponsored content is always labeled. Claimed businesses may have additional visibility, but we won't hide that fact or pretend every result is neutral when it isn't.
Compromise the community
Reviews are never filtered or suppressed to favor paying businesses. A 1-star review from a real boater stays up. Integrity in our ratings is the whole point — without it, this platform means nothing.

Captain's Connection is an independent, bootstrapped company. We're not backed by venture capital with pressure to monetize users aggressively — we're built to grow sustainably alongside the boating community we serve. Every feature we build gets measured against one question: does this make life better for boaters?
