1. About Captain's Connection

Captain's Connection ("CC," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website captainsconnection.com and any related applications (collectively, the "Platform"). Captain's Connection is a marine services directory and community platform that connects boaters with independent marine service providers. We are not a marine service provider ourselves, and we do not employ, endorse, warrant, or guarantee any business listed on the Platform.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, posting a review, or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

3. Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it current. Captain's Connection reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these terms or our Community Guidelines.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of any content you submit (reviews, photos, boat information, bio text, etc.). By submitting content, you grant Captain's Connection a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the Platform for the purpose of operating the service.

You are solely responsible for the content you post. You represent that your reviews reflect your genuine first-hand experience, and that any photos you upload are either yours or you have the right to use them. You agree not to post content that is false, defamatory, harassing, or in violation of any law.

5. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

Post fake, incentivized, or otherwise dishonest reviews
Create multiple accounts to manipulate ratings
Post reviews for businesses you have a financial or personal relationship with (competitor sabotage or self-promotion)
Harass, threaten, or intimidate other users or business owners
Post content that is obscene, hateful, discriminatory, or illegal
Attempt to scrape, copy, or redistribute Platform data without authorization
Interfere with the operation of the Platform or attempt to gain unauthorized access
Use the Platform for any commercial solicitation without prior written consent from Captain's Connection

6. Business Listings and Featured Placement

Business listings on Captain's Connection are sourced from publicly available data (including the Google Places API) and may be claimed by verified business owners. Businesses may pay for featured placement in search results. Featured placement is a paid advertising product only — it does not represent an endorsement, certification, or quality guarantee by Captain's Connection. All ratings and reviews reflect the opinions of community members, not Captain's Connection staff.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Captain's Connection does not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any business listing is accurate, complete, or current. You use the Platform and engage with listed service providers at your own risk.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Captain's Connection and its owners, officers, and employees shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform or your dealings with any marine service provider found through the Platform. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed $100.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Captain's Connection and its officers from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform, your content, or your violation of these terms.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
